Description
Top quality fishing flies, tied on Mustad and Kamasan hooks and packed in dozens for your convenience.
The Coch-y-Bonddu Dry Fly originated in Wales, inspired by the Coch-y-Bonddu beetle, also known as the Welsh cockchafer. This beetle is typically found near grassy riverbanks and fields, and it becomes an easy target for fish, especially during windy conditions when they are blown into the water.
The fly pattern was developed to mimic the appearance and behavior of these beetles, which are dark reddish-brown with a shiny, sometimes iridescent, quality. Anglers noticed that fish, particularly trout, had a strong preference for these beetles and created the Coch-y-Bonddu Dry Fly to take advantage of this natural food source.
This fly pattern has been popular for many years, thanks to its effectiveness during the beetle’s hatching season, typically around late spring to early summer. The Coch-y-Bonddu Dry Fly continues to be a go-to choice for fly fishers looking to entice fish that are feeding on these terrestrial insects.
Due to the variance in natural materials the flies may vary slightly from the images.
